Cafe Inside Windmill / Pumpėnai, Lithuania / 2023 / Status: Under Construction

The Pumpėnai Windmill is a local landmark that has recently undergone a multi-year restoration led by Senamiesčio Projektai. We designed the interiors for the windmill to repurpose this unique space as a café and community hub. Our approach contrasts obliquely placed, rectilinear millwork elements with the circular plan. On the second floor, we added a curved bench seat. Future phases of this project will add artist studios to the upper levels of the windmill and landscaping to the surrounding field.
